Frequently asked questions
What 2fuel is, how it works, and who is behind it.
The basics
What is 2fuel?
2fuel works out what your training costs in energy and turns it into meals. You give it a session (sport, duration, intensity), it calculates kcal, carbs per hour and protein, and your day is planned around that. It is an app for athletes and a portal for coaches and teams.
How do you say 2fuel?
“To fuel.” The 2 is the number two.
How does it calculate what I should eat?
From the work you actually do. Sport, duration and intensity become kcal, carbs per hour, protein and fluid for that day, calculated by the model, not guessed. The AI then picks meals that fit those numbers and tells you why. It does not change the numbers.
Is this a calorie-counting app?
No. A calorie counter tells you what you ate. 2fuel starts from what you are about to do and tells you what to eat for it, before, during and after the session.
What is the best nutrition app for endurance athletes?
It depends on what you need. 2fuel calculates your needs from each training session, plans meals around your habits and allergies with an AI coach, lets you work with a real sports dietitian in the same app, and runs in seven languages including Dutch. Hexis and The Athlete’s FoodCoach are the other apps built for the same job. We compare all three, with sources, at 2-fuel.com/compare.
How is 2fuel different from Hexis and The Athlete’s FoodCoach?
All three tie food to training. 2fuel adds an AI coach that does an intake and plans around your allergies, a sports dietitian you can choose in the same app, and support for Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Hexis has more direct device links, such as Garmin and WHOOP, and The Athlete’s FoodCoach connects to Strava. Details and sources are at 2-fuel.com/compare.
Which sports does it work for?
It is built for athletes who train seriously: cycling, running, triathlon, skating and team sports such as football. The model starts from sport, duration and intensity, so it is not a template for one sport.
Is this medical advice?
No. 2fuel is sports nutrition, and the AI can make mistakes. For medical decisions, check with a doctor or a dietitian first.
The app
How do I get the app?
The app is in beta. Join at 2-fuel.com/join and we will contact you with access. You can also leave your email just to hear when it launches.
What do beta testers do?
Use it on your own training. Tell us what breaks, what is unclear and what you would change. That feedback shapes what we build next.
What does it cost?
We have not published prices yet. Join the beta and you will hear before launch. If you train with a coach, your access runs through your coach.
Is there an iPhone and an Android version?
Yes, both. When you sign up for the beta you tell us which phone you use.
Can it read my training from TrainingPeaks or my watch?
Yes. 2fuel connects to TrainingPeaks, Intervals.icu, Polar, Wahoo and Apple Health, and to Health Connect on Android. Garmin data arrives through TrainingPeaks. There is no Strava connection.
Does it take my allergies and diet into account?
Yes. You set your diet (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free or halal) and your allergies when you start. Meals with those ingredients never appear in your plan. Our server checks that for every plan, so it does not depend on the AI.
Can I swap a meal I don’t like?
Yes, in one tap. Replace it from your favorites, recent meals or the recipe library and the portion is rescaled to that meal moment. Or ask the AI coach for something else, something lighter or a bigger portion.
Coaching
What is the AI coach?
Rory is the AI coach in the app (in other languages he has another name). He starts with an intake about your sport, goal, diet and allergies, plans your meals around your training and what you like to eat, and answers nutrition questions. You confirm every change he suggests.
Does it replace a sports dietitian?
No. The AI coach handles the daily planning and the questions. A sports dietitian brings judgment, context and someone who holds you accountable. 2fuel is built by sports dietitians to support that work.
Can I work with a real sports dietitian?
Yes. Pick one on 2-fuel.com/discover. They invite you into the app, set your plan and follow up with you. Any sports dietitian can create a profile, and the ones we know personally and trust get a 2fuel badge.
Has 2fuel been scientifically validated?
Not yet, and we will not claim it before it is. We have worked with the Living Lab of Hogeschool Rotterdam for a year and a half. On 20 November 2026, five specialists test our algorithm and AI coach, independently of us. We will publish the outcome here, whatever it is.
For coaches and teams
I’m a coach or dietitian. Where do I start?
Go to 2-fuel.com/for-coaches and book a meeting. You invite athletes by email, build their season and days in the coach portal, and their training comes in from TrainingPeaks.
What is Autopilot?
Autopilot plans an athlete’s day from their training and a preference profile that is fed by their intake, their chats with the AI coach and by you. The plan lands in the timeline as drafts. You confirm the day or swap a single moment.
We’re a team or club. How does it work?
A team manager invites coaches and staff, who share a pool of athlete seats. Chefs get their own app with events, shopping lists and each athlete’s portions. Request a call back at 2-fuel.com/for-teams and we set it up with your staff.

Yes. The product is now called 2fuel. Same team, same model.
